Why PNG is the right format
PNG is lossless and supports transparent backgrounds, so a logo or sticker sits cleanly on both light and dark Slack themes. That is why this tool outputs a PNG for every static image you give it.
Make a large PNG fit 128 KB
A 128 × 128 PNG is usually small, but screenshots and photos with many colours can still exceed 128 KB. The converter saves a palette-based PNG of up to 256 colours, which is typically far lighter than a full-colour file, and checks the final size for you.
If your PNG is already 128 × 128 and under the limit, you do not need a converter at all; upload it to Slack directly. For anything else, use the square crop above.
Steps
Drop your PNG, move the square over the part you want, click Generate, check the preview and download the file. Then add it to Slack.
